Q7 - Looking back at your preliminary task (college magazine) what do you feel you have learned in the progression from that to your final product?
Looking back at my preliminary task created on publisher, I feel the progression to my final product on photoshop was successful. My college magazine has a completely different appearance to my music magazine because of the different programmes they were created on. It was hard to make my college magazine look professional because publisher lacked editing tools therefore the controls were limited. Creating my final piece on photoshop allowed effective photo editing and because it was more advanced, it allowed me to be more creative with my layout.
I learned throughout the process that presentation is very important when addressing a specific audience effectively. I developed my ideas along the way using http://www.google.co.uk/, a search engine that helped me research similar magazines like NME and Rolling Stone. The feedback I recieved from my facebook page and the questionnaire I made earlier in my project allowed me to understand the views of my audience. The questionnaire I made at the beginning of the process helped me with the construction of my final piece because I was able to analyse what my audience wanted therefore I could make my magazine appeal to them. The questions I designed were ultimitely to find out what people looked for when choosing a magazine. To ensure my magazine was of the quality my audience had specified, I looked at each completed questionnaire and was able to see the trends/similarities in everyones answers. Qualities I found that were popular uncluded the use of bright colours, an interesting layout, a striking cover model, interesting sell lines and a good price. I tried to make each of these apply to my magazine.
